2009 Flora Calendar

November 3rd, 2008

Hello folks! This year I have just done one calendar (sorry). Images are of some macro beauties from my travels around central and western Canada. I am quite excited about it and expect a proof back from the printers later this week.

Get your pre-orders in now as I’m not printing too many!

Driving to Nelson B.C.

October 21st, 2008

I Drove to Nelson yesterday from Calgary to visit my friend Steven, it was a nice Day in central Alberta but as soon as I closer to BC the clouds closed in and it started to rain. Which is a-ok for me for a day of driving… and got even more perfect as around the town of Sparwood I discovered that fall colours happened much later out here. So the yellows were exploding everywhere!

I was no the most efficient drive, as I could not help but to stop in on some familiar side roads to capture some images.

And thanks to my wonderful girlfriend who let me borrow her laptop for the week I was able to work on the images last night!

More to come during the week!!!

I got a new car!

October 17th, 2008

So I got a new car recently and we went for our first official sweet day of driving this week. Drove down to Longview to get some of their famous beef jerkey and then drove around K coutry and south for a long tour of beautiful gravel roads… 400+ kms and one dirty car made for an excellent day!

The major goal of the day was to get great photo of the southern prairies, which I hope I did as it is a gift for a very good friend. Here is an image from the day:

More images will trickle out as I have time.

2008 Rocky Mountain Rally (Part 2: Saturday)

May 28th, 2008

Saturday’s stages are held out of Calgary in the Porcupine hills area. It is truly beautiful country… especially with fog billowing over the ridge behind you into the valley below.

It was a challenging day, the weather went from not bad to brutal and back and forth… and back. But it did make for dramatic photo ops and challenging driving I’m sure.

A lot of earth worms were trying to escape the moisture on the road… I’m sure most of them had no idea what was coming!

2008 Rocky Mountain Rally (Part 1: Friday)

May 28th, 2008

This past weekend marked the 35th Anniversary of the Rocky Mountain Rally. I choose this year to get a bit more involved and really wanted to see & shoot more of the course.

I ended up volunteering with the TV crew (who were shooting for TSN). I teamed up mid day Friday with Phil to hang sponsor banners in his shots for the weekend.

Apart from the heavy rainfall over the weekend it was am great experience and weekend. Getting banners up for the video shooters did not take long or involve much more than creative zip tie work and then I was free to wander about with my still camera and shoot the racing action.

And the action was great! For stage 2 & 3 on Powder Face road we were stationed at a good sized ‘water hazard’ which made for some great photos even if it was a very gloomy and wet weekend.

May Long Weekend 2008

May 27th, 2008

Another May Long marked by the tradition of a BC road trip with my friend Ian. This year his new dog Dora joined us on our trip to Invermere.

We arrived late Friday night to find most of the camping blocked off, not sure what the deal was but we found a spot to call home for a few days. We did get dirty looks from the rancher who lives up the hill but, too bad for him. It’s crown land as far as I know and we weren’t being wankers.

It was a beautiful weekend of riding and hanging out. Ian’s dog rules, and Ian’s friend Dan is a good dude.

And now, the photos:
